Kerry's Dog Walking

All services require a "meet and greet" beforehand so that we can meet you and your pet/s and you can get to know us.

During the meet and greet we will go through all our paperwork including our contracts and terms and conditions and show you proof of our insurance, enhanced DBS certificate and qualifications. We will also talk about whether someone will be home to let us in when we visit or whether we will need a key.

We will find out about your pet including; what their personality is like, what their usual routine is, their likes and dislikes, whether they get worried or anxious when left alone, are they protective of food or toys, whether they are an escape artist, are they allowed off lead or to be walked on lead, what their loose lead walking and recall is like, do they like other dogs/pets, are they anxious or worried around new people and new environments, whether there are any medical issues or allergies etc, where you would like them left when returned to the house and any other issues/requirements.

Group walks are a brilliant option for well socialised dogs that can be allowed off-lead with good recall. They allow your dog to be exposed to new sights, sounds, smells and experiences. This keeps your dog mentally stimulated as well as physically stimulated and builds confidence resulting in a happy, tired out dog at the end of the walk. A dog that is mentally and physically stimulated is less likely to engage in destructive behaviours at home that are due to boredom.

All dogs are matched in terms of personality to make sure that the group walks are fun and stress-free for everybody. A trial period of two weeks is necessary when introducing new dogs to the group to ensure that they all get along well.

Group walks are a maximum of 4 dogs and normally take about 1.5-2 hours in total including 1 hour's walk and travelling time there and back.

In wet weather all dogs will be washed down and towel dried before returning home, however we cannot provide a grooming service so please be aware dogs may still be a bit damp/muddy.

In warmer weather we will be paying close attention to the heat and humidity levels and we will not walk if it is too hot and a risk of heat stroke. Garden visits and toilet breaks can be provided when the weather is too hot for walks.

Transport is provided in my Vauxhall Combo van with heavy duty crates, all dogs travel in their own crate so have their own space and are safe while travelling. We have cooling mats in the crates during the warmer weather and blankets for the colder weather.

Water is provided at all times.

Solo walks are a great option for dogs that are reactive, anxious or worried around other dogs and environments or for older or younger dogs that have different needs. It means the dog has undivided attention and the walk can be catered to their specific needs. Solo dogs can be walked either on-lead or off-lead depending on owner's preference and the dog's recall.

It is also an option for dogs that are nervous or anxious about travelling in a vehicle as they can be walked from your household if needed. Likewise if your dog is fine travelling in a crate in a van and you would prefer we can drive to a nice walk a short distance away. We can work on de-sensitising your dog to the crate and getting them used to it if it is something you would like to progress to.

This is a great option for puppies or older dogs that want a bit of companionship and affection and a toilet break. Likewise, any new and nervous/worried dogs can start off with a 30 minute home visit to build trust and familiarity before being added to a group or solo walk.

Also an option for other pets that can be left alone for longer such as cats and small animals when owners are going away for the day/evening. The visit can consist of a litter tray clean, cage/hutch spot clean, feed and change water, clean up any messes or accidents and a bit of fuss and attention.

We can also water plants, collect post, open/close curtains and blinds and bring in/take out any recycling bins.

We would recommend morning and afternoon/evening visits for pets that are left while owners are away for a few days.

Please note we do not provide home visits for dogs while owners are away overnight as we believe that dogs should not be left alone overnight. This would require a house sitter overnight, this is not something we regularly provide but may be possible depending on availability so do enquire if needed.

Kerry's Dog Walking

This is a perfect option for pets that do not require as much time such as small animals that just need a quick spot clean, feed and water change.
